Fake Carabinieri Phone Scams Targeting Garda Businesses and Residents

They impersonate Carabinieri when making phone calls to hoteliers, shopkeepers, artisans, and restaurants in the Middle and Upper Garda regions, offering magazine subscriptions from the force.

These are not military personnel, but scammers who, at different times, claim to belong to the finance department, police, fire brigade, or the Municipality police.

How to recognize scams

They often propose subscriptions to nonexistent magazines or publications that have nothing to do with law enforcement agencies.

Therefore, stay alert and immediately notify the real Carabinieri – just dial 112 – as soon as there is a suspicion of being targeted by individuals who,

once they have obtained money, disappear and do not come back.
