Fake Carabinieri Scam Targets Garda Businesses, Authorities Warn

They pose as Carabinieri when calling hoteliers, shopkeepers, artisans, and restaurants in the Middle and Upper Garda areas, proposing subscriptions to magazines of the force.

These are not military personnel, but fraudsters who, from time to time, claim to belong to finance, police, fire brigade, or even the Municipal police.

How to recognize scams

They often offer subscriptions to nonexistent magazines or those that have nothing to do with law enforcement.

Therefore, be cautious and immediately notify the Carabinieri — simply dial 112 — as soon as you suspect you have been targeted by someone who,

after obtaining money, stops showing up.
