Fake Carabinieri Scammers Target Garda Businesses, Authorities Warn

They pose as Carabinieri when calling hoteliers, shopkeepers, artisans, and restaurants in the Medio and Alto Garda areas, offering subscriptions to magazines of the force.

They are not soldiers, but fraudsters who, from time to time, claim to belong to finance, the police, the fire brigade, or the Comune‘s firefighters.

Recognizing scams

They often propose subscriptions to nonexistent magazines or those unrelated to law enforcement forces.

Therefore, be careful and immediately notify the genuine Carabinieri — simply dial 112 — as soon as you suspect being targeted by individuals who,

if they seek money, tend to disappear completely.
