Fake Carabinieri Scams Targeting Local Businesses in Garda Region

They impersonate Carabinieri when calling hoteliers, shopkeepers, artisans, and restaurant owners in Medio and Alto Garda, offering subscriptions to magazines of the force.

These are not military personnel, but fraudsters who, from time to time, claim to belong to the finance police, the regular police, the fire brigade, or the municipal wardens.

How to recognize scams and how to react

They often propose subscriptions to nonexistent magazines or magazines that have nothing to do with law enforcement.

Therefore, be vigilant and immediately alert the Carabinieri – simply dial 112 – as soon as you suspect that you have been targeted by someone who, after taking the money, disappears.
