Fausto Mondini, a pioneer in the boating industry and founder of Avant Garde, passed away yesterday in Calcinato at the age of 86. His innovative creation, the first sailboat entirely made of carbon fiber, marked the beginning of a true carbon revolution in the nautical sector during the 1980s. Under Mondini’s leadership, Avant Garde won two editions of the Centomiglia in 1984 and 1985, helping to write significant chapters in the history of sailing.
The body of Fausto Mondini will be on display in the Pastori farewell hall on Via Quintino Sella, with the funeral scheduled for Saturday, January 11, at 10:30 AM at the parish church of Calcinato.
