Ferragosto Boosts Lake Garda Camping Sector, Record Year Expected
Ferragosto with a full house on the Veronese shore of Lake Garda. Already for several days, tourists looking for a place to stay in Peschiera and Lazise have been directed towards the upper lake and inland, the last locations to fill up during this period of high activity.
Tourist Situation and Operator Comments
As usual, there are operators quick to show tears. A thunderstorm or a night without a full house is enough to think the worst. The season is going very well, according to camping operators, and if it continues like this, it will be a record year.
“It is true that in the first ten days of August,” states the president of Assogarda camping, the association representing most operators in the sector, “Italian visitors were somewhat lacking. We are waiting for the end of Ferragosto to welcome our most loyal clients, the Bavarians.”
Campground Activities and First Impressions
Campgrounds that every morning record numerous departures, but with sites reoccupied before sunset. Confirmation comes from one of the last campsites, active for about twenty days in Lazise.
“We were impressed,” admits the manager, “by the multitude of tourists who alternate during this period. Being new and thus lacking stationary clientele, we opened our doors to everyone who presented themselves.”
