Ferragosto Crackdown: Enhanced Police Checks on Lake Garda

Enhanced Ferragosto checks will be carried out in Brescia province, especially in Desenzano del Garda, Sirmione, Iseo and other Lake Garda locations, ahead of a rise in tourist arrivals expected over the coming weekend. The measures were agreed on Wednesday, 12 August, at Prefecture during a meeting of the Provincial Committee for Public Order and Security chaired by Prefect Andrea Polichetti. Police forces and local police will step up surveillance and prevention in the most crowded and beach areas.

The security plan will also cover roads, railway stations, the lakes and major access routes. Authorities will strengthen safety for navigation, fire-prevention activities, urgent technical assistance and medical emergency response. The meeting also addressed stadium security for the 2026/2027 football season, including interventions in Brescia’s Curva Nord and upgrades to the video surveillance system at the city stadium.
