Ferrari, Riva, and Tornado Showcase at Lake Garda’s Symbol & Simbol Event
Three of the most important names in the Italian industry: Ferrari, Riva, and Tornado, appear simultaneously for three days along the shores of Lake Garda. Automobiles, nautical, and aviation are, in fact, the three main components of the event «Symbol & Simbol», which features, from today until the 23rd, some of the most beautiful and significant locations on the lake: Desenzano, Sirmione, and the Giardino Sigurtà Park in Valeggio.
An high-level review, animated by Alba Parietti, with a focus on around sixty of the legendary «Red Cars» of Maranello (by invitation only), today more than ever in the hearts of all Italians, and timeless boats, both modern and those made of wood in past years by the master shipbuilders of Riva shipyards in Sarnico, still highly coveted by many collectors.
History and key figures of the event
A story, a legend, a tradition especially tied to Riva «wooden boats» like no other shipyard has managed and likely will manage to realize, and to Ferrari of the iconic «Cavallino» (initially adopted by pilot Francesco Baracca, a gold medalist of the Italian Air Force during the Great War), which have helped uphold the Italian tradition and creativity worldwide.
The Riva shipyard, after being owned for about ten years by the English firm Rolls Royce Motors of Crewe, has recently returned to the hands of Italian entrepreneurs, having been acquired by the prestigious Ferretti shipyard.
Absence of Tornado aircraft and scheduled activities
«Obviously, the Tornado (one of the most sophisticated aircraft available in the Western world and among the first in Italy to be operated by the «Red Devils» of the 6th Wing), due to technical reasons», stated Curzio Moretti during the press conference unveiling the event at the Vecchia Lugana restaurant, «will not be able to appear on the lakefront promenade».
«In its place in Piazza Malvezzi in Desenzano, there will be a two-meter model reflecting the original», emphasized the representative of the Riva Club del Garda, organizer of the event. Visitors will also be able to see official videos and footage of the Tornado of the 6th Wing on a large screen.
Meanwhile, in the skies over Garda, the «Learjet 35» aircraft from Aliven will perform spectacular aerobatic maneuvers.
Schedule and associated events
The event program, promoted by the Desenzano Tourism Department, the Riva Club del Garda, the Ferrari Owner’s Club Scaligero, and the 6th Ghedi Wing, is quite extensive.
The presentation will take place at «Sesto Senso Club» tonight, with guests including also Alba Parietti and the Avion Travel.
Tomorrow, the Ferrari cars, Riva boats, and footage from the 6th Wing will arrive at the Porto Vecchio di Desenzano (at 10:30 a.m.), in collaboration with the «Amici del Porto», Caffè Italia, and the Lugana Doc Protection Consortium.
In the early afternoon, at the Marina del West Garda restaurant, there will be musical entertainment and a charity auction of Riva and Ferrari objects to benefit the National Association of Families of Children with Disabilities in Desenzano.
At 4 p.m., a boat and car parade will take place in Sirmione, in the square in front of the Scaligero castle, returning to Porto Vecchio di Desenzano.
The cocktail party and gala evening will be held at the Natural Theater of Giardino Sigurtà, with video projections on a large screen and musical entertainment by the Symbol Band.
On Sunday, a concert, aerobatic displays by the «Learjet 35», and the presentation of commemorative plaques are scheduled.
