The FILA Lake Garda 42, scheduled for Sunday, April 6, is set to welcome approximately 5,000 runners from 80 countries. Registrations, evenly divided between the marathon and half marathon, sold out in the first week of December. This sporting event attracts athletes from around the globe thanks to a scenic route that is completely closed to traffic, winding along the shores of the lake. This edition will see an increase in participants compared to the previous year, with international representation that includes Germany with 1,400 entries, followed by Great Britain and Italy.
The organization has limited the number of bibs to ensure sustainable growth of the event and to better manage the flow of competitors. The presence of female participants is particularly noteworthy, with a substantial balance between men and women among registrants: 51% of the athletes are male and 49% female. Notably, the half marathon features a high female participation rate, with 60% of the entrants being women. Organizers are considering the option of increasing the maximum number of participants for future editions of the Lake Garda Marathon.
