Fire in Riva del Garda: evacuation due to dangerous lightning
A night of fear in Riva del Garda saw a lightning strike hit the roof of a building on Via Pola, causing a fire that forced the evacuation of around 20 people. The incident occurred around 11:50 PM on Thursday the 28th, when the lightning damaged the ridge of the roof, spreading flames to the attic and the stairwell. Nine families were immediately evacuated, while firefighters worked to extinguish the blaze and manage a gas leak caused by damage to the pipes.
In total, approximately 30 firefighters from Riva del Garda and Arco responded, supported by three fire engines and other specialized vehicles. During the operation, both the Local Police and the State Police ensured the safety of the area, with the Mayor also present. Some families temporarily relocated due to the disruptions, while others were able to return to their homes despite the difficulties.
