Fish Kills in Sirmione Spark Interventions and Analyses into Oxygen Depletion

Fish kills have been reported in Sirmione, concentrated at the mouths of several inflows and at the Ganfo Pilandro, which is currently undergoing extraordinary maintenance. Preliminary evidence points to reduced oxygenation of shallow waters, likely worsened by low rainfall; technical checks are underway with water samples and biological specimens sent to ARPA for analysis.

Removal of carcasses is underway and the municipality is cooperating with environmental and health authorities. For the Ganfo Pilandro, maintenance and channel cleaning are in progress by specialized contractors, with recovered fish being restocked according to operative procedures, while non-native and invasive species are disposed of. The administration says it is monitoring the situation and will communicate the analytical results when available.
