Foreign Woman Arrested in Torri del Benaco for Handshake Trap Targeting 72-Year-Old

A 72-year-old man from Torri del Benaco was robbed of his watch in April 2025 after falling victim to a “handshake trap.” A young woman approached him in the town center, asked for information, and after a brief conversation and handshake, the victim realized his watch was missing from his wrist.

Authorities from the Carabinieri of Torri del Benaco identified a 25-year-old homeless foreign woman, previously known to police, through CCTV footage and phone data. She was found fleeing the scene and has been placed under investigation for aggravated theft.
