Foundation Secures Funding to Renovate Historic Building for Elderly Housing

Approval has been given for the renovation of the corner house between Via Florida and Via Gazzoletti, the building, to be clear, of the former restaurant «Faccetta Nera». Owned by the Fondazione «contessa Lucina Formenti Armani», which was managed for years by Eca, collecting the rent, the structure is now designated—in accordance with its statutes, after the original and now infeasible restriction to allocate proceeds to families of soldiers killed in war was lifted—to house elderly individuals who are self-sufficient but in need. This, of course, after an appropriate restoration.

Funds and Projects

The Foundation, in order to carry out these statutory objectives, already held a substantial contribution from provincial law 16 and a specific project to create 7 mini-apartments within the house. However, it lacked the administrative apparatus and a technician capable of managing the operation.

Agreements and Results

A few days ago, this changed: Mayor Malossini signed an agreement with the Foundation, providing the services of the Municipality‘s chief engineer and other administrative tools. Now, therefore, work can begin on the tendering process:

Once completed, the building will delight some seniors over sixty-five, who will be able (based on specific rankings) to return to the historic center, just a short walk from the social and commercial services that are very important to have nearby at a certain age.
