Four Municipalities Launch Joint Evening and Night Surveillance Service
In four Altogardesana Municipalities, a new evening and night surveillance service has been launched a few days ago. This is the so-called “Security Project“, which, following a specific agreement made between the public administrations of Toscolano Maderno, Tignale, Gargnano, and Valvestino, establishes the joint management of the Municipal Police service.
The aim is to manage emergency response services for extraordinary needs and civil protection, substitute staff shortages, ensure public order and traffic management during events, and carry out evening and night patrols. The agreement, but only concerning the municipalities of Toscolano Maderno and Tignale, also includes a series of bureaucratic responsibilities under the jurisdiction of the Municipal Police.
Management and coordination of the service
The body responsible for coordination and management of the combined services is the Municipality of Toscolano Maderno, which also serves as the administrative headquarters for the service. The commander of the Toscolano Maderno Municipal Police Bruno Bordignon will be the person in charge and coordinator of the services.
Thanks to this agreement, valid until December 31, the four partner municipalities will jointly manage the human resources of their respective Municipal Police. Essentially, the officers assigned to the four towns (around fifteen including seasonal and permanent staff in total) will be able to operate interchangeably in any of the partner municipalities according to needs.
Patrol schedules and planning
Among other provisions, the Security Project foresees, during the period from June 17 to September 17, evening and night patrols, seven days a week, from 8 p.m. to 2 a.m. or from 9 p.m. to 3 a.m. During the remaining months of the year, evening patrols will instead be scheduled for the two often “busy” weekend nights.
For June, 84 hours of patrols have been scheduled; the hours will then increase in July and August, with 186 hours of patrols for each of the two summer months. Additionally, in Toscolano Maderno, in collaboration with a local equestrian center, patrol service on horseback is being prepared to monitor hill and mountain areas.
