Fraud Alert: Fake Carabinieri Scams Target Garda Businesses

They pose as Carabinieri when making phone calls to hoteliers, shopkeepers, artisans, and restaurateurs in the Middle and Upper Garda area, offering subscriptions to magazines of the force.

They are not military personnel but fraudsters who, from time to time, claim to be part of the finance police, the police, the fire brigade, or the municipal police.

Recognizing the scams

They often suggest subscriptions to magazines that are fictitious or have no relation to the law enforcement agencies.

Therefore, be alert and immediately notify the Carabinieri — simply dial 112 — as soon as you suspect you have been targeted by individuals who,
