Fraudsters Impersonate Carabinieri in Garda Area Scams

They impersonate Carabinieri when making phone calls to hoteliers, shopkeepers, artisans, and restaurateurs in the Medio and Alto Garda areas, offering subscriptions to magazines of the force.

These are not military personnel, but fraudsters who, from time to time, claim to belong to finance agencies, the police, the fire brigade, or the Municipal police.

Recognizing scams

They often suggest subscriptions to nonexistent magazines or publications that have nothing to do with the law enforcement.

Therefore, be vigilant and immediately notify the genuine Carabinieri — just dial 112 — as soon as you suspect you have been targeted by individuals who,

if they are after money, cease to appear.
