Fraudsters Impersonate Carabinieri in Garda Region to Scam Businesses

They impersonate Carabinieri when calling hoteliers, shopkeepers, artisans, and restaurant owners in Medio and Alto Garda, proposing subscriptions to magazines of the armed forces.

They are not military personnel, but fraudsters who, from time to time, claim to belong to the finance department, police, fire brigade, or Municipality guards.

How to Recognize Scams

They often suggest subscriptions to nonexistent magazines or those that have nothing to do with the law enforcement.

Therefore, be cautious and immediately notify the Carabinieri — just dial 112 — as soon as you suspect you’ve been targeted by individuals who,
