Fraudsters Impersonate Police to Scam Garda Hoteliers and Shops

They impersonate Carabinieri when making phone calls to hoteliers, shop owners, artisans, and restaurants in the Medio and Alto Garda areas, offering subscriptions to military magazines.

These are not military personnel, but fraudsters who, from time to time, claim to belong to the finance police, the regular police, firefighters, or the Municipal police.

How to recognize scams

They often propose subscriptions to nonexistent magazines or magazines unrelated to law enforcement.

Therefore, beware and immediately alert the real Carabinieri — simply dial 112 — as soon as you suspect you have been targeted by someone who,
