Fraudsters Pose as Police to Scam Businesses in Garda Area

They impersonate Carabinieri when making phone calls to hoteliers, shopkeepers, artisans, and restaurant owners in Medio and Alto Garda, offering subscriptions to magazines of the force.

These are not military personnel, but fraudsters who, every time, claim to belong to the finance police, the police, the fire brigade, or the municipal police.

How to recognize scams and how to react

They often propose subscriptions to non-existent magazines or magazines that have nothing to do with law enforcement.

Therefore, be cautious and immediately inform the Carabinieri – simply dial 112 – as soon as you suspect being targeted by individuals who,
