Fraudulent Calls Impersonate Carabinieri to Scam Hoteliers and Businesses

They impersonate Carabinieri when making phone calls to hoteliers, shopkeepers, artisans, and restaurateurs in Medio and Alto Garda, offering subscriptions to magazines of the force.

These are not soldiers, but fraudsters who, from time to time, claim to belong to finance, the police, firefighters, or the Municipal guards.

Recognizing scams

They often propose subscriptions to non-existent magazines or magazines unrelated to law enforcement authorities.

Therefore, be vigilant and immediately notify the real Carabinieri — simply dial 112 — as soon as you suspect you have been targeted by someone who,

who has money, suddenly disappears.
