Funding for Forests in Lombardy: Fire Prevention and Environmental Protection

Lombardy has announced a €30 million funding initiative aimed at environmental protection, forest maintenance, and wildfire prevention. This initiative, part of the SRD12 measure of the Rural Development Program, seeks to enhance the protection of forest ecosystems and improve regional resilience against natural risks and extreme climate events.

The total funding of €29.7 million will be allocated across 186 approved applications involving public entities, forestry consortia, and industry stakeholders. Key actions include forestry interventions to prevent hydrogeological instability and wildfires, as well as the restoration of areas affected by natural disasters. The funding aims to ensure the ongoing environmental functions of forests while supporting local communities in addressing climate change challenges.
