2025 Abrogative Referendums: Disappointing Turnout Even in the Garda Area. The five abrogative referendums, addressing issues such as citizenship, layoffs, and workplace safety, failed to reach the necessary quorum for any legal effects. Upon the conclusion of the voting, the national voter turnout stood at 30%, reflecting a trend of disinterest that also affected the lakeside municipalities of Garda. In the province of Brescia, only 26.59% of eligible voters participated in the election across a total of 1,172 polling stations, highlighting a climate of low engagement compared to previous referendum rounds.
The figures were equally disappointing in the province of Verona, where turnout was recorded at 26.3%, placing it last among the Veneto provinces. Even the municipalities of lower Garda, such as Peschiera and Lazise, experienced participation below expectations despite informational campaigns conducted by local associations. In the province of Mantova, turnout reached 29.89%, while the autonomous province of Trento exhibited an even more pronounced abstention rate of 29.14%. None of the referendum questions managed to capture public attention, leading many voters to opt for abstention as a form of political expression.
