Garda Area Fraudsters Pose as Carabinieri to Sell Fake Subscriptions

They pose as Carabinieri when making phone calls to hoteliers, shop owners, artisans, and restaurants in the Middle and Upper Garda areas, proposing subscriptions to army-related magazines.

These are not military personnel, but fraudsters who, from time to time, claim to belong to the finance authorities, police, fire brigade, or the Municipal police.

How to recognize scams

They often suggest subscriptions to nonexistent magazines or those that have nothing to do with the law enforcement.

Therefore, be cautious and immediately notify the real Carabinieri — just call 112 — as soon as you suspect you’ve been targeted by individuals who,

after obtaining money, do not reappear.
