Garda Area Phone Scammers Impersonate Authorities to Target Businesses

They impersonate Carabinieri when making phone calls to hoteliers, shopkeepers, artisans, and restaurant owners in the Middle and Upper Garda area, proposing subscriptions to the army magazines.

They are not soldiers, but scammers who, at various times, claim to belong to the finance department, police, fire brigade, or the Municipality wardens.

How to Recognize Scams

They often suggest subscriptions to non-existent magazines or publications unrelated to the law enforcement.

Therefore, be cautious and immediately notify the real Carabinieri — simply dial 112 — as soon as you suspect you have been targeted by individuals who,
