Garda Area Scam Alert: Fake Authorities Offer Nonexistent Magazine Subscriptions

They pose as Carabinieri when making phone calls to hoteliers, shop owners, artisans, and restaurateurs in the Middle and Upper Garda areas, offering subscriptions to the army magazines.

These individuals are not military personnel but con artists who, from time to time, claim to belong to the financial police, police, fire brigade, or the Municipality police.

Recognizing scams

They often propose subscriptions to nonexistent magazines or those unrelated to the law enforcement.

Therefore, be cautious and immediately notify the real Carabinieri — simply dial 112 — as soon as you suspect you have been targeted by individuals who,
