Garda Area Scam Alert: Fake Police Calls to Businesses and Shops

They pretend to be Carabinieri when calling hotel owners, shopkeepers, artisans, and restaurants in the Middle and Upper Garda areas, offering subscriptions to magazines of the force.

These are not military personnel, but scammers who, from time to time, claim to belong to the finance police, the police, the fire brigade, or the Municipal police.

How to recognize scams

They often offer subscriptions to non-existent magazines or those that have nothing to do with law enforcement bodies.

So, be cautious and immediately notify the true Carabinieri – just dial 112 – as soon as you have the suspicion that you have been targeted by someone who,

if they had money, would not be seen again.
