Garda Area Scam: Fake Carabinieri Offer Phony Magazine Subscriptions

They pose as Carabinieri when making phone calls to hoteliers, shopkeepers, artisans, and restaurateurs in the Middle and Upper Garda, offering magazine subscriptions from the force.

These are not military personnel, but scammers who, from time to time, claim to belong to the finance department, police, fire brigade, or city Vigili.

How to recognize scams

They often propose subscriptions to nonexistent magazines or those with no relation to the law enforcement.

Therefore, be cautious and immediately notify the real Carabinieri — simply dial 112 — as soon as you suspect you have become a target of those who,
