Garda Area Scam: Fake Police Impersonators Push Fake Subscriptions

They impersonate Carabinieri when making phone calls to hoteliers, shop owners, artisans, and restaurants in the Middle and Upper Garda area, proposing subscriptions to the army’s magazines.

These are not military personnel, but scammers who, from time to time, claim to belong to the finance police, the police, the fire brigade, or the Municipal police.

Recognizing Scams

They often suggest subscriptions to nonexistent magazines or publications that have nothing to do with law enforcement forces.

Therefore, be alert and immediately notify the real Carabinieri — simply dial 112 — as soon as you suspect you’ve been targeted by individuals who,

despite having money, no longer show themselves.
