Garda-area Scammers Impersonate Authorities to Sell Fake Magazine Subscriptions

They impersonate Carabinieri when making phone calls to hotel owners, shopkeepers, artisans, and restaurants in the Middle and Upper Garda areas, offering subscriptions to army magazines.

These are not military personnel, but scammers who, from time to time, claim to belong to the finance police, the police, the fire department, or the Municipality police.

How to recognize scams

They often offer subscriptions to nonexistent magazines or those that have nothing to do with law enforcement forces.

Therefore, be cautious and immediately alert the Carabinieri – just dial 112 – as soon as you suspect you have been targeted by someone who,
