Garda Area Scammers Impersonate Authorities to Sell Fake Magazine Subscriptions
They impersonate Carabinieri when making phone calls to hoteliers, shopkeepers, artisans, and restaurants in the Middle and Upper Garda areas, offering subscriptions to army magazines.
These individuals are not military personnel, but scammers who, from time to time, claim to belong to the finance police, the police, the fire brigade, or the Municipal police.
How to recognize scams
They often propose subscriptions to fake magazines or publications that have nothing to do with the law enforcement.
Therefore, be cautious and immediately alert the real Carabinieri — simply dial 112 — as soon as you suspect you have been targeted by someone
who, if they had money, would no longer show themselves.
