Garda Area Scammers Impersonate Authorities to Sell Fake Magazines

They impersonate Carabinieri when calling hotel owners, shopkeepers, artisans, and restaurateurs in the Mid and Upper Garda area, offering subscriptions to army magazines.

These are not military personnel but scammers who, from time to time, claim to belong to the finance department, the police, the fire brigade, or the Municipality police.

How to Recognize Scams

They often offer subscriptions to nonexistent magazines or those unrelated to law enforcement agencies.

Therefore, be cautious and immediately notify the real Carabinieri — simply dial 112 — as soon as you suspect you have been targeted by individuals who,

claim to have money but then disappear.
