Garda Area Scammers Impersonate Carabinieri for Fraudulent Magazine Offers

They impersonate Carabinieri when making phone calls to hoteliers, shopkeepers, artisans, and restaurant owners in the middle and upper Garda area, proposing magazine subscriptions from the force.

They are not soldiers, but scammers who, from time to time, claim to belong to the financial police, police, fire brigade, or municipal officers.

How to recognize scams and how to react

They often offer subscriptions to nonexistent magazines or those that have nothing to do with law enforcement agencies.

Therefore, be alert and immediately notify the real Carabinieri — just dial 112 — as soon as you suspect you have been targeted by individuals who, after collecting the money, disappear.
