Garda Area Scammers Impersonate Carabinieri in Imposter Calls to Local Businesses

They impersonate Carabinieri when making phone calls to hoteliers, shopkeepers, artisans, and restaurants in the Middle and Upper Garda areas, offering subscriptions to the unit’s magazines.

These are not military personnel, but scammers who, from time to time, claim to belong to the tax authorities, the police, the fire brigade, or the Municipal police.

How to recognize scams

They often suggest subscriptions to nonexistent magazines or those unrelated to the law enforcement.

Therefore, be vigilant and immediately notify the Carabinieri — simply dial 112 — as soon as you suspect you have been targeted by individuals who,
