Garda Area Scammers Impersonate Carabinieri to Sell Fake Subscriptions
They impersonate Carabinieri when making telephone contacts with hotel owners, shopkeepers, artisans, and restaurants in the Middle and Upper Garda areas, proposing subscriptions to the force’s magazines.
These are not military personnel, but fraudsters who, from time to time, claim to belong to the finance department, the police, the fire brigade, or the Municipality’s police.
How to recognize scams
They often propose subscriptions to nonexistent magazines or those unrelated to law enforcement agencies.
Therefore, be cautious and immediately notify the real Carabinieri – dial 112 – as soon as you suspect you have been targeted by individuals who,
if they had money, would no longer show themselves.
