Garda Area Scammers Impersonate Carabinieri to Trick Business Owners

They impersonate Carabinieri when making phone calls to hoteliers, shopkeepers, artisans, and restaurateurs in the Middle and Upper Garda area, offering subscriptions to magazines of the force.

These are not military personnel, but scammers who, from time to time, claim to belong to the finance police, the police, the fire brigade, or the municipal police.

How to recognize scams

They often propose subscriptions to non-existent magazines or publications that have no connection with the law enforcement.

Therefore, be vigilant and immediately notify the true Carabinieri — simply dial 112 — as soon as you suspect you have been targeted by someone who,

seeking money, ceases to appear.
