Garda Area Scammers Impersonate Carabinieri to Trick Hoteliers and Businesses

They impersonate Carabinieri when making phone calls to hoteliers, shopkeepers, artisans, and restaurants in the Middle and Upper Garda areas, offering magazine subscriptions from the force.

They are not actual military personnel, but scammers who, from time to time, claim to belong to the financial police, the police, the fire brigade, or the Municipal police.

How to recognize frauds

They often suggest subscriptions to nonexistent magazines or those unrelated to the law enforcement.

Therefore, be cautious and immediately inform the real Carabinieri — just dial 112 — as soon as you suspect you have been targeted by someone who,
