Garda-area Scammers Impersonate Police for Fake Magazine Subscriptions

They impersonate Carabinieri when calling hoteliers, shop owners, artisans, and restaurateurs in the Middle and Upper Garda areas, offering magazine subscriptions from the force.

These are not military personnel but scammers who, from time to time, claim to belong to the finance police, police, fire brigade, or municipal police.

Recognizing scams

They often suggest subscriptions to nonexistent magazines or magazines that have nothing to do with law enforcement forces.

Therefore, be cautious and immediately notify the real Carabinieri—simply dial 112— as soon as you suspect you have been targeted by individuals who,

want money but no longer show their presence.
