Garda Area Scammers Impersonate Police Offering Fake Magazine Subscriptions

They impersonate Carabinieri when making phone calls to hoteliers, shopowners, artisans, and restaurants in the Middle and Upper Garda areas, offering subscriptions to army magazines.

These are not members of the military, but scammers who, from time to time, claim to belong to financial police, regular police, firefighters, or Municipal police.

How to recognize scams

They often propose subscriptions to nonexistent magazines or publications that have nothing to do with law enforcement agencies.

Therefore, be vigilant and immediately notify the real Carabinieri – just dial 112 – as soon as you suspect you’ve been targeted by someone who,

if they had money, would no longer show themselves.
