Garda Area Scammers Impersonate Police to Promote Fake Magazine Subscriptions

They impersonate Carabinieri when making phone calls to hoteliers, shopkeepers, artisans, and restaurants in the Middle and Upper Garda area, proposing subscriptions to the army‘s magazines.

These are not military personnel, but scammers who, from time to time, claim to belong to the finance police, the police, the fire brigade, or the Municipality police.

How to recognize scams

They often suggest subscriptions to nonexistent magazines or those that have nothing to do with the law enforcement agencies.

Therefore, be vigilant and immediately notify the Carabinieri – simply dial 112 – as soon as you suspect you have been targeted by someone who,
