Garda Area Scammers Impersonate Police to Sell Fake Magazine Subscriptions

They are impersonating Carabinieri when contacting hoteliers, shopkeepers, artisans, and restaurants in the Middle and Upper Garda area, offering subscriptions to the firearm magazines.

These are not military personnel, but scammers who, at different times, claim to belong to the finance police, regular police, fire brigade, or the Municipal police.

Recognizing Scams

They often propose subscriptions to nonexistent magazines or magazines unrelated to law enforcement agencies.

Therefore, be cautious and immediately inform the real Carabinieri — just dial 112 — as soon as you suspect you have been targeted by someone who,

would seek money, and then disappears.
