Garda Area Scammers Impersonate Police to Sell Fake Magazine Subscriptions

They impersonate carabinieri when making phone calls to hoteliers, shopkeepers, artisans, and restaurateurs in the middle and upper Garda area, offering subscriptions to military magazines.

These are not members of the armed forces, but scammers who, from time to time, claim to belong to the finance police, the police, firefighters, or municipal police.

Beware of scams and how to react

They often offer subscriptions to nonexistent magazines or ones with no connection to law enforcement agencies.

Therefore, beware and immediately notify the carabinieri — just dial 112 — as soon as you suspect you have been targeted by individuals who, after taking the money, disappear.
