Garda Area Scammers Pose as Authorities to Target Businesses

They pose as Carabinieri when calling hotel owners, shopkeepers, artisans, and restaurants in the Middle and Upper Garda area, proposing subscriptions to the force‘s magazines.

These are not military personnel, but scammers who, from time to time, claim to belong to finance, the police, the fire brigade, or the Municipal police.

How to recognize scams

They often suggest subscriptions to nonexistent magazines or publications that have nothing to do with the authorities.

Therefore, be vigilant and immediately notify the Carabinieri — simply dial 112 — as soon as you suspect you have been targeted by someone who,

if asking for money, disappears completely.
