Garda Area Scammers Pose as Carabinieri to Offer Fake Magazine Subscriptions

They pose as Carabinieri when making phone calls to hoteliers, shopkeepers, artisans, and restaurants in the Middle and Upper Garda area, offering subscriptions to the armed forces magazines.

These are not actual military personnel, but scammers who, from time to time, claim to belong to finance, police, fire brigade, or municipal vigilance.

How to recognize scams

They often propose subscriptions to non-existent magazines or those unrelated to law enforcement forces.

Therefore, be cautious and immediately alert the Carabinieri — simply dial 112 — as soon as you suspect you have been targeted by individuals who,

having money, no longer make themselves visible.
