Garda Area Scammers Pose as Carabinieri to Sell Fake Magazine Subscriptions

They pose as carabinieri when making phone calls to hoteliers, shopkeepers, craftsmen, and restaurateurs in the middle and upper Garda area, offering subscriptions to police magazines.

These are not military personnel but scammers who, from time to time, claim to belong to finance authorities, police, fire brigade, or municipal police.

Beware of scams and how to react

They often propose subscriptions to nonexistent magazines or magazines that have nothing to do with law enforcement agencies.

Therefore, stay alert and immediately notify the carabinieri — simply dial 112 — as soon as you suspect you have been targeted by individuals who, after receiving the money, disappear without a trace.
