Garda Area Scammers Pose as Police to Sell Fake Magazine Subscriptions

They impersonate Carabinieri when making phone calls to hoteliers, shopkeepers, artisans, and restaurants in the Middle and Upper Garda area, offering subscriptions to military magazines.

These are not military personnel, but scammers who, from time to time, claim to be from the finance police, police, fire brigade, or the Municipal police.

How to recognize scams

They often offer subscriptions to nonexistent magazines or those unrelated to the authorities.

Therefore, be cautious and immediately notify the real Carabinieri – just dial 112 – as soon as you suspect you have been targeted by individuals who, if they had money, no longer show themselves.
