Open-air tourism on Lake Garda ends the 2026 summer season with overall performance in line with 2025, with July and August showing high occupancy. Data from Faita Federcamping processed by HBenchmark report an average stay of 9.4 nights on the lake—9.9 on camping pitches, 8.4 in bungalows, and 8.7 in mobile homes. The customer base remains heavily international: 51% of guests on the Veneto shore come from Germany (up 2 percentage points vs. 2025), followed by the Netherlands (17%), Italy (8%), and both Austria and Switzerland (4% each). AssoGardacamping president Giovanni Bernini noted a slight drop in the first two weeks of August attributed to unusually high temperatures, despite a positive overall outlook.
Seasonality is also shifting on Garda compared with the Upper Adriatic, where sites wind down between September and October. On Lake Garda, camping activities continue until 1 November due to a wider catchment area: by 1 September, bookings covering stays through November reached 50.4% occupancy acquired (up 0.5 points vs. the same date in 2025), rising to just under 63% when considering accommodations only. For future reservations, average trip length stands at 10.8 nights for pitches, 8.7 for bungalows, and 9 for mobile homes, with Germany accounting for 70% of guests, Italy and the Netherlands at 8% each, and Austria and Switzerland at 4% each. Faita Federcamping president Alberto Granzotto said September is increasingly becoming a holiday month, supported by milder temperatures and a more even distribution of demand driven by weather, events, and local experiences.
