Garda Chef Isidoro Consolini Hosts Culinary Activities for Nursery Children
Gastronomic education begins at a very young age. Thus, at the nursery school in Torri, they decided to invite one of the best chefs from the Garda Riviera to teach the children how to make ravioli, biscuits, and sweets. For three days, the young pupils of the Torri nursery participated in culinary activities, guided by Isidoro Consolini, chef at the Al Caval di Torri restaurant.
Educational and Gastronomic Activities at the Nursery School
Recently, Consolini has played a leading role as an instructor in the most challenging edition of «Garda-Gourmet», the Garda-style gastronomy classes organized by the Slow Food branch of Garda Veronese and the association I Ghiottoni. The event took place at the Lamberti wine cellars in Lazise.
“The experience with the nursery school children,” says Consolini, “was very interesting: it was a pleasure to see them kneading.” The children of Torri prepared stuffed pasta, crunchy cookies shaped like alphabet letters, and some cakes, which they then enjoyed as a snack.
This activity is part of an educational program focused on trades. In addition to cooking lessons, another morning they watched bread-making, under the guidance of the owners of a local bakery. Afterwards, they observed the work of a bricklayer, a carpenter, and a traffic officer, drawing tools and the uses of various trades in a series of sketches.
