Defensive works for the Garda Cycle Path have recently been contracted for an amount of 4.8 million euros, aimed at managing and mitigating hydrogeological risks. The project, awarded to the company UNIROCK S.R.L. based in Bolzano, will focus on the rocky cliffs along the western shore of the lake, specifically in the stretch from the regional border to the Galleria dei Titani. The President of the Autonomous Province of Trento, Maurizio Fugatti, emphasized the importance of this project as a significant first step in securing such a vast area of the Alto Garda, protecting both existing road infrastructures and the pedestrian and cycling paths currently under construction.
The works include the construction of approximately 2 kilometers of rockfall barriers and mesh netting over a total length of 2,786 linear meters. The deadline for the completion of the works is set at 194 days from the handover of the construction site. Meanwhile, the work on the Garda Cycle Path continues as scheduled: following the opening of the segment in Riva del Garda and the technical approval for the subsequent section to the south, the connection between Riva and Torbole is expected to be completed by 2025.
