Garda Dialect Poetry Contest Launches with 1 Million Lira Prize
There is a well-defined area where a dialect is spoken that can, with good reason, be called Garda dialect. It is the region bordered by the Chiese River to the west, Riva del Garda to the north, Alto Mantovano to the south, and Peschiera del Garda to the east. The Federazione delle associazioni gardesane has decided to promote the first poetry prize in Garda dialect, named after the Comunità del Garda, and organized in collaboration with the Consorzio tutela vino and the Cariplo del Gruppo Intesa.
Details of the competition
The competition announcement, which involves the 700 registered poets, has been circulated just in these days. Each author can participate for free with up to five unpublished and unawarded works. The pieces, on a free theme, must be signed with a mark or motto to be repeated on a sealed envelope.
The handwritten compositions, accompanied by a translation into Italian, must be sent in 5 copies to the Segreteria delle Federazioni delle associazioni culturali gardesane, Cultura e Ambiente, in via Verdi in Padenghe, by July 31. The first prize is 1 million lire; the second prize is 500,000 lire.
