Garda Enhances Beach Facilities with New Rivoltella Center and Upgrades

The Garda capital city is enhancing beach assistance, further supporting – and increasingly affirming – its tourism vocation. It does so by investing heavily in the creation of facilities and services capable of making the stay on the beach enjoyable and comfortable.

The interventions, for the first time implemented, concern all the main lakeside areas of the city. In recent days, the Administration inaugurated the new Rivoltella beach center.

The New Rivoltella Beach Center

“The works, designed by the Ufficio tecnico (Technical Office), involved an expenditure of about half a billion,” says Tourism Councillor Giuliano Garagna. “We have removed the old structures and built a new semicircular building attached to the supporting wall of the park adjacent to Villa Brunati.”

The new beach center presents a modern and functional appearance. “It is equipped with a nice bar with tables, also located outdoors, along with services, cabins, changing rooms, and a small storage for equipment. On the roof, there is a beautiful terrace. Part of the paved area of the square has also been made usable for organizing musical evenings or entertainment.”

It’s truly a beautiful structure that will finally provide adequate services to the many tourists and residents who flock to the shoreline at Rivoltella’s port. It is also located in a very scenic place, beneath a broad escarpment from which the toponym Rivoltella, meaning ‘high shore,’ can be visually interpreted.

Interventions at the La Zattera Lakeside Beach

However, the City Council has also decided to equip the beach area at La Zattera, another lakeside zone in Rivoltella, with some structures. The projects approved by the Council concern the implementation of primary urbanization works (electricity, water, sewage) to allow the temporary placement of prefabricated structures to serve visitors, ensuring services.

Short-term installation of services for the disabled, changing rooms with storage for beach equipment, and a refreshment kiosk is also planned. The installation will be temporary and linked to the summer tourist season, from June to September. The structures can thus be removed during the winter.

The project also includes the removal of rocks used to enclose the public beach, the placement of flowerpots, and the addition of floral elements to mask the visually impactful prefabricated structures.

Status of the Work at Spiaggia d’Oro

On the other hand, the enhancement works at the lakeside area of Spiaggia d’Oro, between Desenzano and Rivoltella, have only been paused. The project, with an investment of nearly 500 million, involves not only the lakeside area, i.e., the beach, but also the expansive hinterland area between the lake and the former state highway.

The interventions at the beach area have been completed. Currently, work is suspended and will resume after the bathing season, focusing on the hinterland area, which will be structured to host events, mobile tent structures, and a green park.

This zone will be fenced off and closed to access during nighttime hours. A parking lot will be created toward the state highway. The access road to Spiaggia d’Oro will be pedestrianized.
